Shelby Howard is a race car driver. He has been in numerous different series through his career. He started racing in 1996 in the Junior Sprint cars. The first season he was in the National Series he finished fifth in points.
Graduating to the Jasper Modified Series in 1999 he won Rookie of the Year and won his first feature race the following year at Winchester Speedway. Not since Jeff Gordon had such a young driver won a race in that series. Bouncing around through the different series for a while. For a while he was in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck and Busch Series.
In 2005 he joined the Hooters Pro Cup series and drove for Tony Steward Enterprises. He ended up with three pole positions and four top-ten finishes in the USAR Northern Division. After that he bounced around for a few years and in 2009 he was a free agent and was picked up by ML Motorsports where he raced in the Nationwide Series with a best finish of 12th in the season. He would stay there until 2011, but did not continue with the team after their Texas race that year. The team is doing a lot of rebuilding outfitting their shop with cabinets and equipment and should be ready to race again soon.
